Participatory Sound Installation

연습”은 관객 참여형 퍼포먼스이자 공간 설치 작업이다. 스마트 폰을 소지한 관객은 ‘스마트 요원’으로 광장에 초대되어 사운드 공동 행동의 가능성을 함께 실험하거나 연습할 수 있다. 스마트 요원이 되고 싶은 관객은 자신의 스마트폰으로 작가가 안내하는 인터넷 프로토콜에 접속한다. 이 접속을 통해 스마트 폰은 소리 또는 노이즈를 생성하는 사운드 도구로 전환된다. 이를 통해 관객들은
자신의 목소리가 사운드로 연결되거나 한 덩어리가 되는 순간을 경험하며 일시적 사운드 공동체를 형성한다. 다이애나밴드는 스마트 폰에 대한 보편적인 기능과 사용 경험을 해킹하면서 스마트 폰을 민첩하고 긴밀한 ‘연결’을 위해 탄생한 존재로 재정의한다. 그를 통해 지금의 기술적 대상물들의 새로운 사용과 환기의 가능성을 제안한다. 관객 또한 스마트폰을 매개로 임의로 설정된 공간을 점거하거나 다른 행동을 만들어 낼 수 있다. 그를 통해 각자 다른 입장, 다른 상황을 가진 개개인은 네트워크 속에서 거대한 몸을 구성하며 한 호흡과 한 목소리로 외칠 수 있는 가능성을 가진다. 그리고 그것은 또 다른 광장 연습이기도 하다.
 
This work is both a participatory performance and an installation. Viewers who have a smartphone
are invited as a ‘smart agent’ to the square to experiment on or practice the possibility of sound
joint action. those who want to be a smart agent connect to the IP address introduced by the
artist through their smartphone. Once the connection is established, the phone begins to work as a
sound device to produce sound or noise. By hacking the universal functions and usage experiences
of the smartphone, diana band redefines it as a device for quick and close ‘connection.’ In this
way, the artist suggests a new way fo suing and rivisitng the present technological devices, and
this also becomes a practice to from another square.
